What to Do on Monday

January 20 is going to be a clusterfuck in America. We can't fix that. We can, however, deny the people in power something they desperately want from all of us: our attention. Politicians only exist because people pay attention to them. Otherwise they'd just be ordinary like everyone else. Attention is the hot air that fills their big balloon heads. You can make them smaller just by ignoring them. And what if everyone did that? They would cease to be politicians and go back to being private assholes.

Some people are planning to protest by finding something other than politics to anchor their attention then. As the hippies put it: "Turn on, tune in, and drop out." \o/

Birdfeeding

Today is sunny and chilly, but has warmed up enough to melt more of the snow.  \o/

I fed the birds.  I've seen a large flock of sparrows, a flock of at least 4 goldfinches, two male cardinals, and a tufted titmouse.

I put out water for the birds.

EDIT 1/16/25 -- I did a bit of work around the patio.

I've seen a pair of cardinals, a dark-eyed junco, and a female downy woodpecker.

EDIT 1/16/25 -- I went outside intending to fasten the decorative wagonwheel in place, only to find it half-buried under a pile of snow.  0_o  Ah well, a project for another day.

I've seen a flock of cardinals.

EDIT 1/16/25 -- I took a few pictures of the sunset.

As it is getting dark, I am done for the night.

This afternoon I went outside intending to fasten the decorative wagonwheel, but it was half-buried under snow. I noticed the view looked pretty, though, so I went back for my camera and took pictures instead.
