Birdfeeding

Today is cloudy, windy, and cold.  It is starting to spit rain, with a few snowflakes scouting ahead.

I fed the birds.  I've seen a large flock of sparrows, three goldfinches, and a tufted titmouse.

EDIT 11/21/24 -- I've see several house finches and a pair of cardinals.  :D

EDIT 11/21/24 -- I did a bit of work around the patio.

It's raining and snowing a bit more.  Out in the fields, the snow is beginning to cling to the hills and hollows of tilled earth, frosting them with white, just enough to show the texture.  Nothing is sticking in the yard.

I am done for the night.

Rabbits

I found this very cottagecore picture of rabbits.  Looking at it makes me hungry.  They're so soft and fat, with their fluffy fur and big round eyes.  I just want to skin them and put them in a pot.  *sigh*

The flowers are pretty, but devoid of logic.  The tall white one on right looks like hollyhock and blooms in summer.  Just left of it, lily of the valley blooms in spring.  I'm not sure about the tiny pink flowers on the ground, perhaps clover?  Above those, the small blue spikes may be blue grape hyacinth, another spring bloomer.  The big pink daisylike flowers are purple echinacea, which blooms in midsummer to early fall.  The tall blue flowers in upper left look like delphinium, which blooms in early to midsummer.  Some of the foliage is probably hostas, which comes in various colors and patterns but runs to big strappy leaves that make good coverage.

Distant Star

Bottom line: Astronomers have taken the first close-up image of a star in a galaxy outside of our own Milky Way. And this star – WOH G64 in the Large Magellanic Cloud – appears to be getting ready to go supernova.

This is pretty cool.
