This is an advance announcement for the Tuesday, July 2, 2024 Poetry Fishbowl. This time the theme will be "Thinking Outside the Box." Today is warm and humid.  We got a good soaking rain earlier, with a chance of more later.

I fed the birds.  I've seen a mixed flock of sparrows and house finches, plus a grackle.

Wildfires increasingly threaten oil and gas drill sites, compounding potential health risks

More than 100,000 oil and gas wells across the western U.S. are in areas burned by wildfires in recent decades, a new study has found, and some 3 million people live next to wells that in the future could be in the path of fires worsened by climate change.


Maybe this will finally discourage people from building more of the damn things. They may not give a flying fuck about health or climate, but they absolutely care about money and might hesitate to build something where it could so easily be destroyed.  Especially if it got destroyed before extracting the resources it was aimed at.
