Hobbies: Roller Skating

Folks have mentioned an interest in questions and conversations that make them think. So I've decided to offer more of those. This batch features hobbies.

Roller skating is a sport of sliding around on wheeled shoes. It is most often done solo, but there are races, and roller derby is a high-contact team sport. You can roller skate almost anywhere with a firm smooth surface, but many people prefer skating rinks or skateparks.

Birdfeeding

Today is partly sunny and warm.

I fed the birds.  I've seen a flock of house finches.

I pulled weeds around the birdgift tree.

EDIT 7/13/23 -- I pulled more weeds around the birdgift tree.

EDIT 7/13/23 -- I started trimming along the tulip bed.

I've seen a mourning dove and a male cardinal.

EDIT 7/13/23 -- I watered the septic garden and plants in the yard by the house.

The first of the gladioli is just starting to open in the septic garden, a vivid lipstick red.  :D
 
EDIT 7/13/23 -- I watered the telephone pole garden, wildflower garden, and notch in the prairie garden.

EDIT 7/13/23 -- I watered the oak seedlings, tulip bed and its grass patch.

Magpie Monday

Today is not actually Monday, but dialecticdreamer is hosting Magpie Monday from July 13-19 with a theme of "self-care." Leave prompts, get ficlets!

The theme is self-care. Simple, from the outside, but often difficult to think of when it’s most needed. I’m promising scenes of reassurance, comfort, and fluff at least 700 words long (in part because I hope for very, very many prompts). Posted stories will range from 1000-1400 words, and sponsors can ask for a rough word count using two cents per word as a guide. My word counts are usually generous to readers and sponsors.
