Today is sunny and warm.

I haven't fed the birds yet, but I've seen several sparrows and house finches.

I planted 2 assorted butterfly weeds in the wildflower garden and 3 in the septic garden.

EDIT 5/21/23 -- In the septic garden, I covered the butterfly weeds with compost, then watered them.

EDIT 5/21/23 -- In the wildflower garden, I covered the butterfly weeds with compost, then watered them.

I fed the birds.

EDIT 5/21/23 -- I planted 5 assorted phlox in the septic garden, covered them with compost, and watered them.

EDIT 5/21/23 -- I planted 10 mixed gladioli bulbs in the prairie garden.

EDIT 5/21/23 -- I planted the last 15 gladioli in the prairie garden. This concludes the box from Breck's.

I saw a male indigo bunting in the forest garden.

EDIT 5/21/23 -- I watered the barrel garden and the gladioli bulbs. I sowed American Meadows Partial Shade Wildflower Mix in the tulip bed. Then I watered the tulip bed.

EDIT 5/21/23 -- I watered more plants.

As it is getting dark, I am done for the night.

Here's an interesting article on codeswitching between languages

Things I have noticed:

* Each language has its own "track" in my brain, but then there's English vs. everything else.  So if I don't know a word in one foreign langage, but I do in a different foreign language, it'll switch to the second foreign language before dredging up an English word.

* Spanish has continue to grow in my brain, like a field of wild marigolds, despite not actively studying it for years.

* I am linguistic SillyPutty and pick up words without even trying, but the ones I am most prone to keep and use are things for which English does not have a word or it is less clear.  So picante (spicy-hot) from Spanish, glas (sea-colored) from Gaelic, etc.

* Switching languages drastically undercuts emotion.  Counting to 10 in English does nothing for me.  But counting to 10 in any other language -- or whatever other list of things I care to use -- is a great way to calm down.

Any or none of this may apply to humans with a factory-standard linguistic setup, because I have a linguistic coprocessor that is ridiculously overpowered in comparison.
