Watch for the upcoming event Three Weeks for Dreamwidth, running April 25-May 15.  Folks post content only visible on Dreamwidth, and there are usually memes and other activities too.  Mark your calendars!

This year I'm planning to focus on bird-related stuff, since [community profile] birdfeeding is a new community.  That'll create some good anchor posts.

Today was surprisingly pleasant, not quite warm, but sunny and nice.  Ironically, it was supposed to be nice on Friday, when it rained, and stormy today.  Spring has an arteest's temper, LOL.

I fed the birds.  I've seen a flock of sparrows, a few mourning doves, a pair of house finches, and a fox squirrel.

[personal profile] elf boosted the signal for a friend's project, The Fujoshi Guide to Web Development. "Help us put the means of website production back into the hands of those best suited to receive them: fandom people."

"Learn web development from hot anime guys in a dating sim. Well, not actually a dating sim. But it looks like a dating sim."

Here is a sample of the GIT Zine. (Do not read with mouth full.) This looks like a great guide for visual thinkers, even in its early, sketchy stage. It is even legible for me, and I don't code. Also, decorating an instruction manual with hawt catboys will definitely make fans look at it.

I am delighted to see someone doing concrete things to encourage more folks to create websites and services, as alternatives to the current ones that mostly suck. Take back the web!

The Rights of All Beings include:

Every component of the Earth community, living and non-living has three rights: the right to be, the right to habitat or a place to be, and the right to fulfill its role in the ever-renewing processes of the Earth community.

We went up to visit Dad today.  Ironically, it was supposed to be nice on Friday but stormed; it was supposed to be stormy today but was beautiful, not quite warm but mild and sunny.

For lunch/supper we picked up two big platters from Red Lobster.  Most of it was the usual excellent stuff.  But they've changed the Langostino Lobster Dip.  It's always been delicious, but it was the consistency of pizza topping, which is to say, very difficult to remove just one bite from the main mass.  Now it's more like cheesy seafood chowder, very easy to scoop into.  :D 3q3q3q!!!  Also the tortilla chips were a mix of yellow ones and purple ones.  \o/  So that's awesome.

On the way home, we stopped at the marsh park.  Mostly still brown, but a few raspberries were leafing out.  Cattails were sprouting, duckweed is green, and a few other marsh plants.  A number of geese were foraging eagerly, we saw ducks in the distance, possibly a couple of white egrets far away, and a lot of red-winged blackbirds.  One tiny minnow went zipping through the shallows.  Much fun.

We stopped for Mexican ice cream, but we were still so stuffed that we split one small cup.  We also picked up pastries for later from the panderia.  I still haven't gotten around to mine.  EDIT 4/3/23 -- I finished my pastry.  It had spicy apple filling in a very flaky crust that I'm glad I didn't try to eat in the car, but it's extremely delicious.  :D

My last gift from Doug was a bottle of hickory syrup, so I'm contemplating what to make with that.  From Dad there's a prehistoric Africa novel.
