Today is sunny and mild.
I fed the birds. I've seen a flock of sparrows and two fox squirrels chasing each other. :D
I decided to experiment with winter planting of wildflower seeds, using the
Monarch Butterfly Wildflower Seed Mix in the north notch of the prairie garden that was mowed so I could plant daffodils in the fall. I haven't finished that whole area yet, but it's a good start. I figure these are prairie plants so they are adapted to this environment, and may do better in the ground where they can sprout whenever they feel ready. Hopefully this will help them keep ahead of other competition.
EDIT 2/12/23 -- I put out water for the birds.
I planted more wildflower seeds in the prairie garden.
I noticed that the snowdrops were sprouting at the far end of the flowerbed, so I raked the leaves off those. I didn't see any coming up in the savanna yet, but the ones in the white garden at the end of the driveway are already staring to bloom. :D
EDIT 2/12/23 -- I finished planting wildflower seeds in the prairie garden.
I spotted some daffodils sprouting in the prairie garden.
I checked the firepit. It actually burned down pretty low. \o/
EDIT 2/12/23 -- I raked up the remains in the firepit. Then I started picking up sticks in the ritual meadow and built a loose pyramid as the core of the next fire. Progress.
As it is getting dark, I am done for the night.
