I spotted this Welsh spice blend earlier this month, Captain Cat's Môr Seasoning.  I wish I could find this, but I haven't seen it for sale in America.  I did put it on my wishlist earlier though.

Ingredients - Seasalt, spices, smoked paprika, sweet paprika, lemon pepper, mace, ground pepper flakes, plack pepper, all spice, cardamom, cinnamon, dried lemon peel, dried orange peel, laver, mustard powder, herbs, (ginger bay leaves, cloves), celery powder, sugar dulse.

It uses two types of seaweed, laver and dulse.  I think that's a promising way to use it, as flavoring, because seaweed has lots of flavor and nutrients.

I'd love to see a copycat recipe for this, or for other seasoning blends that use seaweed(s).

Here is my card for the Body Parts Bingo Fest over in [community profile] allbingo. It has several different categories. I have made a mixed card. (See all my 2022 bingo cards.)

If you'd like to sponsor a particular square, especially if you have an idea for what character, series, or situation it would fit -- talk to me and we'll work something out. I've had a few requests for this and the results have been awesome so far. This is a good opportunity for those of you with favorites that don't always mesh well with the themes of my monthly projects. I may still post some of the fills for free, because I'm using this to attract new readers; but if it brings in money, that means I can do more of it. That's part of why I'm crossing some of the bingo prompts with other projects, such as the Poetry Fishbowl.

Underlined prompts have been filled.

"Tears of the Sun"

[Friday, July 1, 2022]

It is a way of remembering
the past, the deep past --

the tears of the sun,
of the ancient trees,
turned to stone

and worn around
the warm throats of
the archaeologists
as they dig for history.

Birdfeeding

Today is hot.  It was sunny earlier, but has clouded over and is trying to spit rain.

I fed the birds.  I've seen a few mourning doves and a sparrow.

I watered the barrel garden.

Part of a plant order arrived from Four Seasons, a pink dogwood that is fully leafed out but amazingly still alive after several days in a hot truck.  Planting season for trees and shrubs here is March-April, and they should be dormant because once they leaf out the chance of successful transplanting drops dramatically.  This is three to four months  late. >_< I planted the dogwood, and maybe it'll survive since it must be a tough little fucker to have survived shipping in high summer.

Of the marigolds currently blooming, both are red-and-orange.  The one in the container garden has a moderate marigold scent, while the one in the barrel garden has almost none.  I thought about pulling up the scentless plant, then decided that I'd rather have pretty flowers even if they are useless as insect repellent.  Hmm, maybe I should taste the petals, though; they might differ in flavor.  Anyhow, I can just pick off the flower heads of undesirable flowers after they finish blooming, so they don't set seed.

EDIT 7/1/22 -- I watered tree seedlings in the savanna, then the septic garden and the telephone pole garden.

Plenty of rumbling thunder, but no real rain yet.  Gods know we could use it.

EDIT 7/1/22 11 PM -- It is now raining quite vigorously, with large deep puddles on the patio.  I am pleased.  :D
