Community Building Tip: Swimming Hole

For my current set of tips, I'm using the list "101 Small Ways You Can Improve Your City.

84. Create a swimming pool from a dumpster. This ain’t no country club, it’s a simple, quick urban intervention that turns a neighborhood gathering into an impromptu pool party. Simple, down-and-dirty DIY swimming holes can make all the difference on a summer day. It’s highly recommended you don’t use a fire hydrant as a water source, however, since it may draw the attention and ire of city officials.

On the other hoof, if the city decides to open a fire hydrant, that makes an excellent impromptu sprayground to reduce the chance of heat-related injuries.  I've seen it once in this life.  It used to be the norm, and should be revived in areas living within their water budget.

Birdfeeding

Today is sunny and hot.

I fed the birds.  I've seen house finches and a dove.

I gathered butterfly milkweed seeds and planted them in the second strip of little bluestem in the prairie garden.

I saw a skipper butterfly in the prairie garden.  They like the goldenrod. 

EDIT 8/7/21 -- I went back out and planted wild onions in the prairie garden.
