I saw a rose-breasted grosbeak on the hopper feeder.  I don't think I've seen one in summer before.  They usually appear in spring.  We had some for several weeks earlier.

* He may actually be staying in the yard, but hasn't come to the feeder since everything greened up.  Not sure why he would suddenly visit the feeder now, though.

* He may have gotten pushed out of his territory elsewhere, and be traveling in search of a new one.

Poetry in Microfunding:

There are two open epics at present.

"Rainshadow Road" belongs the Daughters of the Apocalypse series. It introduces Maggot to the Clearwater Caravan.

"A Celebration and a Consolation" belongs to Polychrome Heroics. Keira comforts her mother after the breakup.

The weather has been variable here.  We had a couple of cooler days and now it's quite warm again.  Seen at the birdfeeders this week: a small flock of house finches, a few sparrows, a few mourning doves, a female cardinal, a male rose-breasted grosbeak, and a squirrel. Currently blooming: yellow Asiatic lilies, orange daylilies, violas, spiderwort, a couple of white things in the wildflower garden, purple coneflower, yellow coneflower, Shasta daisy, morning glories, and pink catchfly.  Orange butterflyweed is setting seedpods.  Blackberries and mulberries are ripe.  Pie cherries and black raspberries are done.

Today is sunny, muggy, and quite warm.

I fed the birds.  I've seen house finches, doves, and a male rose-breasted grosbeak.  :D

I picked half a bag of mulberries.

EDIT:  I picked half a bag of mulberries.
