Community Building Tip: Oral History

For my current set of tips, I'm using the list "101 Small Ways You Can Improve Your City.

62. Launch an oral history project. From Studs Terkel to StoryCorps, there’s a rich tradition of storytelling as a time capsule of modern life. Documenting your neighbors’s stories preserves the fabric and history of a neighborhood, giving context to why this place and its people matters.

This is especially helpful if you and/or your people are the kind whose stories usually don't get told.

Birdfeeding

Today is cloudy and mild.

I fed the birds.  Earlier I saw a lot of sparrows at the hopper feeder.

I did a little more brush trimming under the birdgift tree.

Today's Smoothie

Today we made the usual honey-roasted peanut butter smoothie but with a pear instead of a banana.

1 cup almond milk
1 cup Brown Cow vanilla yogurt
1 pear
2 tablespoons honey-roasted peanut butter
1 tablespoon honey
dash of pumpkin pie spice

It came out similar, not quite as thick, but the pear added a sweeter fruity note.
