Spruce can be used to make soda or beer.  I have had the soda, at a con where Canada was bidding on Worldcon and handing out interesting foods and beverages.  They gave me a whole can because nobody else liked the spruce soda.  It's far more fragrance than flavor, but it's like drinking Christmas.  :D  I would love to try cooking with it, as an adjunct to rosemary and sage.  I think it would be good on poultry, and possibly for making pine tree cookies.

Today is clear and cool.

I fed the birds.  Cardinals and squirrels are out today, and a Bewick's wren.  I startled a lot of rabbits just walking around the yard.

I filled two trolleys with misshapen logs and hauled them to the ritual meadow where they can later be used to build bonfires.
