Folks have mentioned an interest in questions and conversations that make them think. So I've decided to offer more of those. This is the current list.

39. What are the top three ways to express your love in friendships and in relationships? (Here’s the Love Languages Quiz.)

Quality Time and Acts of Service are my top ones.  Those are the isness of love for me -- the things we do together, or for each other.  Then Words of Affirmation and Physical Touch are tied for third place.  I'm not typically focused on Gifts as an expression of love.

Thinking about recent community interactions, though, I seem to respond more to gifts as a show of friendship, because I've been very touched by some of our current friends bringing us things.  We've got a tribe sense starting to develop, which is something I value very much, and that constant passing around of resources is part of that.  Gifts in motion, rather than the romantic tendency to cover a girl in jewelry or whatever.  We've probably passed the salad bowl and dressing jar back and forth a dozen times by now, and everyone's fallen in love with the Elder Scrolls cookbook of which our group has at least 3 copies.  :D  I suppose I should add that my partner Doug made some extremely well-chosen gifts early on that riveted my attention, because they proved he was listening in ways that other people generally don't.  "Can I buy you a Snapple?"  <3

We bought some fireworks from JJ Firework Sales in Charleston.  We got a big box of sparklers, which have proven to be difficult to light but pretty once lit.  (We needed the kind on bamboo sticks, not wires.)  We also got the Cutting Edge Fireworks High Ball Fountain that he recommended, which was the best fountain I've bought.  It turned out to have 5 barrels and multiple modes.  There were silver balls, colored ones of green, red, and blue at various times, and sprays of loudly crackling gold sparks.  It burned for a really long time.  You want to stay back, though -- it starts out small but then gets considerably bigger.  \o/  I'd definitely buy that again.

The sale tent is located near EIU in a parking lot.  He said he'd stay open until July 5-6 to sell off remaining inventory, so if anyone is still looking for fireworks, go for it.

See my previous post about fireworks.
