Emotional Intimacy Question: Start a Business

Folks have mentioned an interest in questions and conversations that make them think. So I've decided to offer more of those. This is the current list.

2. If someone gave you enough money to start a business – no strings attached – what kind of business would you want to start and why?

Well, I already have one, and you're reading it!  I'm a professional wordsmith.  So one answer is that I could do more of that, perhaps launch a publishing company.  I'd love to put out some positive books by other people.  And I could support ALL my worthy causes by making materials for them.

Another option, of course, would be to piggyback on other people's business ventures.  I'd love the hell out of being an angel in crowdfunding.  I'm very good at spotting things the world needs.

Then again, my partner is really into magic.  I could fund his  business, get the show on the road again.  That'd be no end of fun.

I can do this all day.  :D

Thursday Yardening

Today is cloudy and cool.  My partner Doug brought in a bunch of firewood, and then I helped finish the stack.  We'll be buying a fresh load soon.

Then I fed the birds, and planted the other half of the crocus around the septic garden.

This morning I saw three squirrels around the hopper feeder!  I think it's the first time I've seen more than two at once.  :D  I also saw a male cardinal, several house finches and sparrows, and some dark-eyed juncoes.  The Bewick's wren was there too.

How to Build a Novel from Themes and Symbols

A friend of mine asked about writing a novel for NaNoWriMo, specifically how to put in themes and symbolism to create concept art with words. How do you plan them, or do you just put them in as you go along? So I wrote this, and then realized a lot of other people would probably enjoy reading it too.  It doesn't address all aspects of writing a novel, just the ones I was specifically asked about, but it turns out there aren't many instructions for this.  Here they are...
