Signal Shells

Here's a scientific description of signal shells, a concept long discussed in science fiction.  Note that civilizations move into, through, and out of technological levels.  Radio is a popular starting point but not optimum for later use.

Robot Balance

This post claims that designers made a robot with better balance by modeling human motion.  I don't think it's the software; I think it's the hardware.  Almost everyone seems to make the mistake of top-heavy robots with the powerpack on the back, and they fall over because the build is inherently unbalanced.  But look at this one.  The powerpack is slimmer and the knees are bent.  This lowers the center of gravity and places the powerpack properly over it.  Me, I prefer to put them in the feet, but this is much better than other extant models.  \o/

Sunday Yardening

Today is warm and damp, mostly cloudy, and very buggy. Ladybugs are crawling everywhere. :D

Round 1: I planted 25 Spectrum Sweet Aroma Daffodils Mix under the mulberry tree near the garage, convenient to the house for fragrance.

Round 2: I planted 12 Hybridizer's Pink Daffodil Mixture- around the goldenrain tree.

Ross Ridge Reservation in Terramagne-Tennessee
