Poem: "Any Fight Worth Fighting"
Jul. 21st, 2018 09:10 pmThis poem came out of the June 5, 2018 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by prompts from
curiosity and
siliconshaman. It also fills the "captive" square in my 6-4-18 Dark Fantasy card for the Winteriron Bingo Adventure fest. This poem has been sponsored by
janetmiles. It belongs to the Cuoio and Chiara thread of the Polychrome Heroics series.
Warning: This poem contains intense topics. Highlight to read the warnings, some of which are spoilers. It features loneliness, a planned hit on human traffickers, except the "empty" truck turns out to be full, so Cuoio decides to strike immediately rather than leave the captives at risk by waiting for backup, canon-typical violence ensues, graphic depictions of human bondage including minors, poorly aimed berserking, indifferent treatment of enemy casualties, excessive force, because supervillains, voluntary tolerance of violence (which isn't actually doing any harm), worrying about the aftermath, upset mobsters, and other challenges. If these are sensitive issues for you, please consider your tastes and headspace before reading onward.

Today's Adventures
Jul. 21st, 2018 11:03 pmWe went up to Urbana for the Farmer's Market this morning. We bought heirloom tomatoes, assorted cherry tomatoes, and red onions, later augmented with Roma tomatoes and various mushrooms. Tomorrow we'll be making mushroom medley spaghetti sauce. :D
We also stopped at the barbecue place we've been meaning to try. Wood 'n' Hog uses an intriguing blend of cherry and hickory. We got the rib tips with hot links and a side of okra, very tasty.
It rained a little today, not much, but maybe that will help the ground a little.
