My mother read me The Hobbit when I was four.  I learned how to write hurt-comfort from Master Tolkien.  So if you like the way I write -- or the fact that I sometimes still call a museum a "mathom-house" and value food and cheer and song above hoarded gold -- there's one of the strongest roots for it.

Today's Adventures

my_partner_doug and I went out to celebrate his birthday. We saw a falcon and a winter rainbow. :D We had supper at Fujiyama, went grocery shopping and found another gift and dessert. The latter was some of the best cheesecake I've ever had, triple berry. <3

We also watched Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which was a great deal better than I expected, so I'll review that and its fascinating batch of trailers. (Here there be spoilers.)
