Hard Things

Life is full of things which are hard or tedious or otherwise unpleasant that need doing anyhow. They help make the world go 'round, they improve skills, and they boost your sense of self-respect. But doing them still kinda sucks. It's all the more difficult to do those things when nobody appreciates it. Happily, blogging allows us to share our accomplishments and pat each other on the back.

What are some of the hard things you've done recently? What are some hard things you haven't gotten to yet, but need to do?

Fledglings!

I went out to take pictures today, and when I approached the porch, all three  mourning doves exploded from the nest!  \o/ Mama dove has successfully fledged two squabs this season.  I don't know if they'll come back or not, sometimes they do for a few days.  It will be interesting to see if she starts another nest.  Often they go through several a summer.

Wednesday Yardening

Today started out quite warm, but cooled rapidly.

I went out to water plants.  It's been dry for so long, things are wilting.  Also the mulberries and black raspberries are ripening, but not tasty.  :/  I got a few good berries off one tree; everything else has been either sour, or dried up.  I suspect the lack of rain during the ripening period is to blame.

Today's big news was the mourning doves fledging.  \o/
