ysabetwordsmith: Damask smiling over their shoulder (polychrome)
This poem came out of the July 2016 Creative Jam. It was inspired by a prompt from [personal profile] chanter_greenie. It also fills the "lost childhood" square in my 7-16-16 card for the [community profile] hc_bingo fest. This poem has been sponsored out of the general fund, based on an audience poll. Happy birthday to [personal profile] librarygeek from [personal profile] technoshaman and [personal profile] mama_kestrel, who noted that in their donations. This poem belongs to the Dr. Infanta thread of the Polychrome Heroics series.

WARNING: This poem features content which many readers are likely to find disturbing. Highlight to read the warnings, which include both spoilers and probable triggers. It contains references to past child abuse, graphic sexual abuse, main character harm, violent use of superpowers, emotional angst, and other mayhem. I am counting Dr. Infanta as a child victim based on her mental age rather than her chronological age, but a similar freeze pattern actually happens with many adult survivors too. Her thought patterns are distorted in some ways common among survivors of child abuse. Readers are encouraged to take extra caution with this piece because it's more explicit than canon-typical, and also, this is the kind of reason why Dr. Infanta scares the crap out of some people while making others feel very protective of her. Please consider your tastes and headspace before deciding whether this is something you wish to read. It's not directly connected to ongoing plotlines so it shouldn't cause problems if you skip it.

This poem is spillover from the May 3, 2016 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by a prompt from [personal profile] technoshaman. It fills the "self-awareness" square in my 5-1-16 card for the Solo Celebration Bingo fest. This poem has been sponsored by the general fund, based on an audience poll. Happy birthday to [personal profile] librarygeek from [personal profile] technoshaman and [personal profile] mama_kestrel, who noted that in their donations. It belongs to the Berettaflies thread of the Polychrome Heroics series.

[personal profile] magibrain is doing something really new for the September fest in [community profile] allbingo. It runs from September 1-30. The idea is to combine four prompts in a way that enriches your setting and characters. This is not a great match for my usual approach, but I'm willing to give it a try. The rules aim for getting one line (row, column, or diagonal) on each card. I'm also allowing myself the option of using individual prompts as usual. So I've got four chances to get a proper bingo out of this fest. I suspect that my best bet on that will be if any of the lines give someone ideas to prompt for a set of four. (See all my 2016 bingo cards.)

If you'd like to sponsor anything, especially if you have an idea for what character, series, or situation it would fit -- talk to me and we'll work something out. I've had a few requests for this and the results have been awesome so far. This is a good opportunity for those of you with favorites that don't always mesh well with the themes of my monthly projects. I may still post some of the fills for free, because I'm using this to attract new readers; but if it brings in money, that means I can do more of it. That's part of why I'm crossing some of the bingo prompts with other projects, such as the Poetry Fishbowl.

Underlined prompts have been filled.
