My partner Doug found this wonderful interview with the creator of the Miles Morales Spiderman. It talks about why he made a mixed-race Spiderman and what superheroes mean to the audience. Some thoughts ...

[personal profile] sharpeningthebones is continuing to explore genderqueer Bucky.  "He has little idea ..." shows Bucky as non-binary, experimenting with online identity presentation.  I love Bucky's tentative yet determined nature here, and Steve's utterly solid support.

Our theme this month was "science and math."  I worked from 12:30 PM to 12 AM, so twelve hours and thirty minutes, allowing for breaks.  I wrote 17 poems, almost all of them medium; there were only 2 epics.  Also unusual, the majority were stand-alones, with only 4 series poems.  Everything was free verse.

Participation was lower.  There were 33 comments on LJ and another 22 on DW.  A total of 19 people sent prompts.  There were no new prompters this month.

Buy some poetry!
If you plan to sponsor some poetry but haven't made up your mind yet, read the unsold poetry list from May 6. That includes the title, length, price, and the original thumbnail description for the poems still available. There are still several verses of "A Strange and Gentle Contagion" remaining, which you can reveal by linking to the unsold poetry list or a favorite poem from the May fishbowl.

All currently sponsored poems have been posted, and prompter copies sent for the rest.  Per the $200 goal, "Out of His Head" is the free epic.  Per the $250 goal, that's a second tally toward a bonus fishbowl.  Per the $300 goal, there will be a half-price sale in several small series from May 19-25.

The donor perk-post is "The Science of Poetry."  Donors this month include [livejournal.com profile] janetmiles, [livejournal.com profile] ng_moonmoth, Anthony and Shirley Barrette.  There were no new donors.

The Poetry Fishbowl project also has a permanent landing page.

The idea was to test what would happen if a person fell into a lava lake, the test packet being organic waste.  I'm not sure this is an apt parallel, though.  A hog carcass would more precisely emulate a human one.  Organic waste may have contained more flammable materials.  But hey, it's a great video.

This is a standalone story inspired by Norse mythology about Loki and Odin, who were originally blood-brothers and/or lovers depending on which sources you consider. It's a plotty exploration of how Loki tries to right wrongs, in ways that never quite work out as intended, with a layer of kinky erotica wrapped around it. Some parts are silly and others are really intense. This story is being revealed in pieces based on audience participation.

In doing research for characters in various sorts of trauma recovery, I've found mood trackers and other worksheets for personal maintenance and growth. I couldn't find a similar one for feeling safe, which is an issue for many people, so I made one based on some other examples.
