ysabetwordsmithToday we went to the Marshall Farmer's Market. :D
On the way out, we stopped at Arby's for something to eat and a milkshake.
The market was a little bigger this year, with about a dozen or so booths. A couple of bakers were there, a couple of plant vendors, and most of the rest various kinds of crafts. Sadly the biodynamic farm booth wasn't up yet. I hope we can get back once or twice in the season, but gas is expensive now.
Lawson's Custom Confections was there with a variety of miniature cakes and cookies. We bought a piña colada cake.
Krumkakes and Kolaches also had a booth up. She didn't have pretzel bread with her, but we put in a request which we can pick up later the next time she's in Charleston.
After the farmer's market, we stopped at Henhouse Bakery and Books. We bought a miniature caramel banana cake there. We've already eaten that one, which was quite good. :D
On the way home, we passed Grissom Family Orchard and Farm Market. They're open 9-5 every day but closed on Mondays. The sign said they have sweet corn by I couldn't read the rest. Their Facebook page mentions watermelons, peaches, sweet corn, cantaloupe, blackberries, blueberries, zucchini, cucumbers, onions, and ice cream. :D We should try to get back down there soon.
We also finished the cookbook we've been reading in the car, Taste of Home Grand Prize Winners. Among the recipes we marked were Creamy Chive Mashed Potatoes, Hearty Beef Barley Soup, Chicken and Dumpling Casserole, Apple Ladder Loaf, Parmesan Herb Loaf, Pear Custard Bars, and Golden Lemon Glazed Cheesecake.
It has been a fun and productive day.
