Birdfeeding
May. 6th, 2026 01:24 pmToday is cloudy and cool. It rained again last night.
I fed the birds. I've seen a few sparrows and house finches.
I put out some potted plants to get ... well, what sun there is through the clouds.
EDIT 5/6/26 -- I did a bit of work around the patio.
EDIT 5/6/26 -- I did more work around the patio.
EDIT 5/6/26 -- I did more work around the patio.
I've seen a large mixed flock of sparrows and house finches, a pair of rose-breasted grosbeaks, a male cardinal, a brown thrasher, and a fox squirrel. :D
EDIT 5/6/26 -- I did some bushwhacking in the yard.
EDIT 5/6/26 -- I planted a persimmon tree in the forest yard.
EDIT 5/6/26 -- I did some bushwhacking in the yard. There are more dead branches down too, some small enough to move easily, others big enough that all I could do was drag it more-or-less out of the way.
EDIT 5/6/26 -- I planted the second persimmon tree in the forest yard.
EDIT 5/6/26 -- I did more work around the patio.

I am done for the night.

>> I, too, love bird watching and have been eyeballing one of those feeders that has the camera on it. <<
There are many camera feeders to explore. The main drawback seems to be the small seed capacity. It's fine if you only get a few birds. But if you want to attract many, there's a tradeoff between refilling the seed constantly, or having other feeders without cameras.
>> I know I have a pair of Carolina wrens because they sing to me each morning, lol. But it would be cool to see who else lives out there.<<
We get Carolina and house wrens, cardinals, house finches, and all kinds of things. This week I've seen a couple of guests -- a male Baltimore oriole and a male rose-breasted grosbeak. :D
