Poem: "The Doom Puff"
Apr. 28th, 2026 10:34 pmThis poem came out of the April 7, 2026 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by a prompt from
nsfwords. It has been sponsored by the general fund poll. This poem belongs to the series Monster House.

"The Doom Puff"
It started out as
a rabbit, so they say.
It was a cute little lop
with long ears and
soft spotty fur.
But people will
be people, and
sometimes that
causes problems.
Climate change
and politics and
other issues just
kept piling up.
"I'm so tired and
this world is getting
on my last nerve,"
the rabbit said to itself.
And then it exploded.
Thus the Doom Puff
came into existence.
It coalesced out of
the fluff and static
of entropy much like
a dust bunny coming
together under the couch.
It was attracted to trouble,
so it followed the people who
caused the most problems,
hopping along behind them
until it gathered enough
mayhem to explode again.
That sent the victim's
(perpetrator's) life
spiraling into mayhem.
So if you don't want
a visit from the Doom Puff,
then be a good person,
don't destroy the world, and
remember to clean under the couch.

Notes:
Dust bunnies are clumps of dust and debris that accumulate in areas with low airflow and infrequent cleaning. These small, fluffy clusters are composed of a mixture of dead skin cells, hair, pet dander, fabric fibers, dirt, and other particles. The name “dust bunnies” is derived from their resemblance to small, soft bunnies, but unlike real bunnies, they are far less endearing.
