"When You're Lost, You Question Everything"
Story Date: Monday, June 27, 2016
Summary: Bluescreen moves into Mercedes wanting to set up as a supervillain, but the city is not what he expects.
Noise-cancelling headphones come in various styles. Some only reduce outside noise while others will also play music, nature sounds, etc. Some have the ability to let through desired sounds such as speech.
Feed the Geeks is a Terramagne-American food delivery program focused on brain foods, including both snacks and cooking ingredients with a recipe booklet in each box.
Animal products (eggs, cheese, honey, milk, yogurt, etc.)
Fruit (apples, bananas, blackberries, blueberries, cherries, gojiberries, grapefruit, grapes, kiwis, lemons, limes, oranges, peaches, pears, plums, pomegranates, raspberries, strawberries, freeze-fried fruit pouches, dried fruit, fruit leather, fruit juices, etc.)
Healthy fats (coconut oil, ghee, olive oil, etc.)
Legumes (beans, chickpeas, lentils, split peas, hummus, soup mix, etc.)
Meat (chicken, herring, salmon, tuna, turkey, etc.)
Miscellaneous (black tea, green tea, herbal tea, chocolate, coffee, spices, superfoods, etc.)
Nuts and nut products (almond milk, almonds, cashews, cashew butter, coconut, walnuts, muesli, trail mix, etc.)
Soy products (soy milk, soy sauce, tempeh, tofu, etc.)
Vegetables (asparagus, avocados, beets, bell peppers, bok choy, broccoli, brussels sprouts, spinach, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, dried vegetable bits, freeze-dried vegetables, salad mix, etc.)
Whole grains (barley, brown rice, oats, popcorn, quinoa, cold cereal, granola, granola bars, hot cereal, multigrain crackers, multigrain flour, etc.)
The Mercedes Emergency Food Bank works on a point system, so that clients can basically shop for food like they would in a store. Whole foods and other healthy choices cost the least. Moderately processed foods that are reasonably healthy cost somewhat more. Convenience and junk foods cost the most. However, the food bank does make some things in bulk using far safer ingredients than commercial blends, so some of the dry mixes like cream soup mix are in the middle category. Notably, the point prices do not reflect store prices in regards to things like kosher, halal, vegan, gluten-free, etc. costing far more than conventioinal counterparts. A kosher beef hot dog and a regular pork hot dog cost the same at the junk food level.
Points are partially determined by household size, so a person shopping for a family of five will get more than someone shopping to eat alone. However, the system also accounts for special dietary needs. A client can ask for and get a recommended shopping list for various common conditions (e.g. heart-healthy, pregnancy) or styles (e.g. Mediterranean, climatarian) and some of those have point adjustments to make them feasible. If someone needs a different calorie amount than average, there are various approaches to secure that, from a doctor's note (like Dr. G put in Bluescreen's refugee file to accommodate superpowers) to an employer indicating that an employee has a heavy-labor job.

Shut up and eat it! Recipe
Popcorn is a healthy wholegrain food. The problem is that people often drown it in unhealthy toppings. There are many delicious and healthy flavorings you can add to make popcorn a lot more exciting than the crud in movie theaters. Here's one for protein popcorn.
Making your own box mixes has many benefits. Enjoy some recipes for box mixes, instant soups, and jar soups with bulkier ingredients. These store well in bags, jars, or tubs.
