Today we went to the Spring Fest.

This event is the remnant of the once-great Celebration that used to fill several blocks. This year only had about a dozen vendors, if that, not counting the pretty good string of food trucks. But it was still an excellent trip.

We got lunch from The House of Brisket food truck. The burnt ends ranged from melt in your mouth to jerky in texture, but the flavor was quite good. I wasn't impressed with the coleslaw but my partner Doug liked the baked beans.

Urimusic Pottery had spectacular fine art ceramics such as bowls, vases, and candleholders. Some were handpainted with flames or other designs, some had incised designs, others had geode slices, and so on. We bought a geode slice candleholder and a tiny bowl with an incised mountain scene. He also belongs to the Sullivan Area Art Guild in Indiana.

Diligent Hands Metalworking was there, a favorite upcycler we've seen at various local events. Today I was charmed by several old hand saws cut to resemble tall evergreen trees.

Whispering Willow Creations had some pretty jewelry.

CTF Illinois Live-Work-Advocate is a nonprofit that houses people with developmental disabilities. They were selling assorted types of artwork made by residents from their 9 Muses Art Gallery. Now the interesting thing about this booth is the quality varies from decent to fantastic. But you have to buy it the moment you see something you love, or somebody else will snatch it -- I've had that happen. So this time we bought immediately. The best find of the day was a fairly large diamond art replica of The Starry Night that we got for an absurd bargain. It's quite striking even from a distance. :D

For lunch dessert, we picked up mini-donuts with Nutella topping, which was utterly delicious. I'm loving the recent trend of more and better toppings for these things. I like the cinnamon sugar well enough, but it can't hold a candle to jam or Nutella. <3

Shortly after we left the event, it started raining. We picked up a big shipment of plants at the post office. I'm not sure if the yard will dry off enough to plant anything though.

It has been a fun and productive day.

I'm glad your day was all you wished - and the pottery place looks perfectly marvelous. I like the red and blue piece at the far left in the link's photo of the display.
