These are the character notes for "The Wall in the Room We Shared."


Ferdinano "Ferd" Morano -- He has tinted skin, brown eyes, and dark brown hair buzzed short. His heritage is Hispanic. He speaks English and Spanish. He is 15 years old in 2015.
Ferd lives in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He grew up in foster care. For years, he and his foster brother Wil Kwak were kept in a basement bedroom except for school hours, as a way to "keep them out of trouble." Ferd didn't have a drum, so he amused himself banging on other things with drumsticks, and developed a knack for street music. He does okay with that, but he lacks the dexterity for the kind of elaborate graffiti that Wil makes. Eventually Ferd decides to write helpful messages on things instead.
Origin: Ferd and Wil took to huffing as a way of relieving the endless boredom. Ferd developed Phasing and escaped, taking Wil with him.
Uniform: He wears casual boy clothes, usually in shades of black, gray, and blue.

Ferd can phase through solid objects. When partially phased, he is ghostlike; when fully phased, he is completely invisible. At present, his ability is limited; carrying a passenger or cargo, he can't go very far. Moving just himself, he can go farther. He want to practice to develop more range and carrying capacity.
Motivation: Freedom.

Wilbur "Wil" Kwak -- He has tawny skin, almond-shaped brown eyes, and wavy black hair cut short. He is short with wiry muscles. His heritage is Korean. He speaks English and Korean. He is 14 years old in 2015.
Wil lives in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He grew up in foster care. For years, he and his foster brother Ferd Morano were kept in a basement bedroom except for school hours, as a way to "keep them out of trouble." Craig lives in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He grew up in an abusive family that left a lot of marks. He ran away at 14 and has been living on his own ever since. Currently Craig leads the Rag-Tags, a gang of teen runaways who share an abandoned house. He is a skilled graffiti artist with plenty of street smarts. He uses his hacking skills to get money and other resources to support the gang and keep their lair functional. Craig typically wears casual boy clothes in shades of gray and black, brightened with blues and greens.

Dagen Dempsey -- He has toffee skin, brown eyes, and dark nappy hair that hangs in spring locks. He is tall and skinny. His mother's drug abuse left him with low energy. He is mixed-race with African, American, and a little Hispanic heritage. He speaks English. He is 16 in 2015. Dagen lives in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He drifted away from his family in his early teens. Sometimes he stays with the Rag-Tags, a gang of teen runaways who share an abandoned house. Sometimes he couch-surfs with friends, and traveling through different neighborhoods gives him opportunities to acquire things for the gang. Dagan makes friends easily because he's easygoing and doesn't put demands on other people. He prefers casual boy clothes in soft earth tones.

Dambi Im -- She has tawny skin, almond-shaped brown eyes, and long brown hair with lighter streaks. She has a round face. She is short and skinny with no curves yet. Her heritage is Korean; she speaks English and Korean. She is 13 years old in 2015.
Her family was homeless, and Dambi got separated from them in a raid. Now she belongs to the Rag-Tag Gang in Scranton, Pennsylvania; they share an abandoned duplex. There she excels at distracting people so her gangmates can steal from them. She also repairs and upcycles fabric for clothes, bedding, and so on. People often mispronounce her name as "Bambi," which upsets her.

Javiera Pérez -- She has caramel skin, black eyes, and long wavy black hair. She wears glasses. She is tall and thin with shallow curves. Her heritage is Hispanic; she speaks English and Spanish. She is 16 years old in 2015.
Javiera stayed in America after her family got deported when she was 12. Although born in Scranton, Pennsylvania she doesn't have paperwork to prove it, so she hides. Currently she leads the girl half of the Rag-Tag Gang and they share an abandoned duplex with the boy half. Javiera upcycles furniture and other stuff. Craig is teaching her how to hack computers, and she's learning fast.

Treasa Walsh -- She has pale skin, blue eyes, and long curly blonde hair. She is tall and thin with shallow curves. Her heritage is Irish-American; she speaks English. She is 15 years old in 2015.
Treasa is the older sister of Triona (14). They live in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Their father molested Treasa since she started puberty at 12. When he started molesting Triona when she was 13, the girls ran away. Now they belong to the Rag-Tag Gang. The girls share one half of an abandoned duplex, and the boys share the other half. Treasa becomes hostile and aggressive if anyone mistakes her or Triona for hookers. They are determined to support themselves in other ways. They are skilled thieves. They skateboard well, sometimes as part of stealing, mostly as a hobby.

Matthew is the younger brother of Andrew. Matthew earned an Associate's Degree in Pennsylvania Studies from Lackawanna College. He is a skilled handyman who enjoys restoring and upcycling furniture. Currently Matthew and Andrew live together in Scranton, Pennsylvania. There they do odd jobs around the neighborhood, often using a cherry-red van to haul things or drive people to errands. Because Matthew suffers from migraines, he usually wears sunglasses. He favors men's work clothes in shades of gray, black, and blue so nothing can clash.

The van has a side lift just behind the front seats. The floor of the van has inset rails for attaching seats in different configurations, so it can haul people or cargo. It has two 3-seat sets, two 2-seat sets, and two single seats along with several bins and racks of various sizes that can be installed as needed. The van can hold a total of 8 people (6 in back and 2 in front) or 4 wheelchairs in back and 2 people in front.
