Re: Well ...

When I was seven years old, some adult asked me if I was looking forward to being old enough to get confirmed. I told them that I couldn't believe the myths I read in the Bible, and I thought of myself as an agnostic Deist. The adult was confused - how could a child my age understand the Bible by reading it? And how did I know what a Deist was. Reading the science fiction magazines of the mid-1950s taught me a lot of things most children my age didn't know anything about. I evolved into a classic Agnostic - I believed (and still do now, even thought I'm a Priestess) that it's not possible to prove that any sort of Deity exists or doesn't. "Oh, how can you grow up to be a Moral Person if you don't believe in God?" Well, if the only reason you as a Christian don't go around raping and stealing and attacking people the threat that Big Daddy in the Sky will punish you, then you're not a Moral Person, just a terrified infant. (I was a very annoying child.)
