Episodes

Thing plays an integral role in some episodes, and more of a cameo in others. Some of the smallest moments are among the most moving, though.

"Chapter I: Wednesday's Child Is Full of Woe"
Wednesday arrives at Nevermore Academy and meets many new people. Her parents send Thing to spy on her, or keep her company, and she reacts violently. She grabs him and threatens to lock him in a drawer, making him swear loyalty to her. However, Wednesday also introduces Thing to her new roommate Enid Sinclair, allowing the two of them to start what turns into a deep emotional friendship. Wednesday later sends Thing to Tyler Galpin with a "call me" message written on his palm. Freaked out by the Hand, Tyler tries to squash him like a spider.

"Chapter II: Woe Is the Loneliest Number"
Police search for the body of Rowan Laslow, a student killed in the previous episode. Nevermore Academy holds a competition called the Poe Cup, which has no rules other than being the first to retrieve the goal. "Rowan" apparently leaves the school, so Wednesday orders Thing to follow him to the train station. Thing tries valiantly, but loses him, because "Rowan" is actually the shapeshifter Larissa Weems. Wednesday is furious with Thing for losing the target. Enid Sinclair makes Wednesday apologize to Thing for being mean to him. During the Poe Cup race, Thing is an essential member of the Black Cats team, distracting members of another team, and knocking out a siren underwater to prevent sabotage to their own boat.

"Chapter III: Friend or Woe"
Outreach Day sends the Nevermore Academy students to Pilgrim World in Jericho. Wednesday and Thing also discover the ruins of the old meeting house. When the squatter Fabian threatens her, Thing jumps up and strangles him. A new town monument of Joseph Crackstone is unveiled. Thing strikes a match and blows it up, but Wednesday is blamed, despite her playing a cello in public view at the time.

"Chapter IV: Woe What a Night"
Thing and Wednesday break in to examine the bodies of recent murder victims, which all have a part missing. Wednesday attempts to present the information to her roommate, but Enid keeps fainting. Wednesday heartlessly instructs Thing to fetch the smelling salts again. Nevermore Academy holds a Rave'N dance. Wednesday is not interested, but Thing meddles in her love life, setting her up with Tyler Galpin -- which also disrupts her plans to sneak out for more investigations with Eugene Ottinger, leading to his injury by the Hyde. Thing even steals the splendid Gothic dress that Wednesday was admiring earlier so she has something special to wear.

"Chapter V: You Reap What You Woe"
Nevermore Academy hosts Parents' Weekend. Morticia, Gomez, and Pugsley come to visit. Wednesday tells them that she knows all about Thing's covert mission to spy on her. The coroner in Jericho, Dr. Anwar, apparently commits suicide and implicates Gomez in the previous death of Garrett Gates. Sheriff Donovan Galpin arrests Gomez, upsetting the whole family. Thing visits Gomez in prison.

"Chapter VI: Quid Pro Woe"
Thing helps Enid Sinclair and other students to throw a surprise party for Wednesday in Joseph Crackstone's crypt, despite Wednesday explicitly telling him that she did not want a party. He even wears a cute little party hat, probably courtesy of Enid. Of course, it goes awry when Wednesday shows no interest in the festivities, gets distracted by a Latin inscription, and then has a vision. Enid blames Wednesday for the party failure, but really it was Thing's fault.

"Chapter VII: If You Don't Woe By Now"
Thing helps Wednesday break into a hidden safe to steal Faulkner's diary. After a picnic with Tyler Galpin, however, Wednesday returns to find her room ransacked and the diary gone. Thing has been stabbed, pinned to the wall with a knife. Wednesday rushes him to Uncle Fester for help, who manages to revive Thing with magical electricity. She also vows to seek vengeance against whoever hurt Thing.

"Chapter VIII: A Murder of Woes"
While Thing and Enid Sinclair are searching for Wednesday, Enid wolfs out for the first time. Tyler Galpin shifts into Hyde form and attacks Wednesday, but Enid protects her. Thing comforts Enid through the distress of wolfing out.
