I have some kitchen tools from my mother's kitchen, many were from HER mother's kitchen. My maternal grandparents died around the time I was born, but I have an aluminum measuring cup that has a tiny dent in it (which probably makes its measurements slightly inaccurate)but when I hold it in my hand I feel connected with all the generations of family cooks that begat me. Everybody has ancestors, and we remember them and learn from them and honor them for what they gave us.
