Folks have mentioned an interest in questions and conversations that make them think. So I've decided to offer more of those. The current batch features landrace gardening.
Open Pollinated Land-race Moschata's
I grow my own variety of open pollinated butternut squash. It is an early season land-race with tremendous genetic diversity. The seed produces necked squash, and butternuts, and pumpkins, and cheese squash of lots of different sizes and shapes.

This describes the process of creating a landrace of moschata squash with diverse traits. You can do the same just by gathering lots of different seeds, throwing them in the ground together, and keeping whatever you consider the best results.

Date: 2023-02-25 07:27 pm (UTC)Do you have a yard, or even a balcony? Not all landrace crops need as much space as squash. I bought seeds for landrace basil this year, and that's going in a container.
