I've experienced something similar. I remember looking around while traveling with a friend, at a busy, bustling street entirely unlike anything at home. I saw my friend's purposeful stride, the multicolored flashing signs, the press of people all going their own ways without any display of concern, and thought: some day I will look back and yearn for this moment.
That was 2019, and I've had plenty of cause to do exactly that.
