This poem is spillover from the August 2, 2022 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by a prompt from
kelkyag. It also fills "The Breakfast Club" square in my 8-1-22 card for the Reel Time Bingo fest. This poem has been sponsored by
ng_moonmoth. It belongs to the series Monster House.
"The Mouthful That Is the Commitment"
Breakfast is everything --
the beginning, the first thing.
It is the mouthful that
is the commitment to
a new day, a continuing life.
One weekend a month,
we get together with
other unusual families
for a breakfast club.
It's always interesting.
Sometimes Mrs. Solem
sets up a yogurt bar
with cow yogurt and
nondairy yogurts, nuts
and berries and honey.
Other times Miss Sally
makes an oatmeal buffet
with bananas and applies,
chocolate sauce and caramel
and all kinds of goodies.
With a group as mixed
as ours, it's useful to have
as much variety as possible.
We make omelettes and toast
for the traditionalists, of course,
or green eggs and ham for the kids.
And if the troll tops his yogurt with
rocks, well, that's his business.

You can pretty much combine an oatmeal bar and a yogurt bar because they use the same toppings.
Enjoy a Mix and Match Omelette.
Here are two ways to make Green Eggs and Ham.
