This poem is for the
sunshine_challenge and Prompt 3: Moonstone. It also fills the "cry" square in my 7-1-22 card for the Body Parts Bingo fest. It belongs to the series Arts and Crafts America.

"Pebbles from the River of the Moon"
[July 2022]
In a sacred meadow,
there lies a shrine
open to the sky --
not a building of
brick and mortar,
but a stream running
with clear water.
It is said that when
the Moon was bereft,
she wept crystal tears
that fell to Earth and
and became a river
lined with moonstones.
Now anyone in distress --
from grief or trouble sleeping
or emotional instability --
can bring a moonstone
here to drop in the stream,
cry out for the Moon's mercy,
and thereby find relief.
It eases stress and
gives a sense of calm.
At night, the starlight
shines silver on the water
and pebbles from the river
of the Moon gleam milk-pale
against the bottom in the stream.
For everyone at the end of their rope,
it offers a shimmering thread of hope.

Notes:
Prompt 3: Moonstone
Prized for its blue to white adularescence—a billowy, moonlight-like sheen—Moonstone has been closely associated with the Moon. The ancient Romans believed it was frozen moonlight, a gift from the goddess, Luna. Therefore, some consider it an alternative birthstone for those born on Monday, the “Moon’s day”. Due to this lunar association, as well as its calming influence, this gem is considered an excellent aid for those with trouble sleeping. Moonstone is a stone of inner growth and strength; it soothes emotional instability and stress and stabilizes the emotions, providing calmness. Because of all this, Moonstone is often associated with wisdom and dreams.

This opening image really is beautiful. I can see the twinkling starlight of the night sky reflected in the stream below, just like the moonlight that bathes there.
