Flat Wonderful peaches actually do have flattened fruit. It's one of several varieties -- also known as peento, Saturn, or donut peaches -- where the flesh is a toroid around a seed that is just covered by skin on top and bottom. They're quite good. Normally the trees are pricey, so when I saw this one on sale, I grabbed it to see if it'll grow here.
Midwinter Fire is a bush dogwood with bright orange stems. I confess that the name snagged my attention; I'll probably plant it near the Midwinter grove. The description says its fruit attracts birds, so that was another reason for buying it. Bush dogwoods are good for stem density; lots of wildlife likes that.
