I hate it when that happens! When the power goes down (which, thank all the gods of every pantheon, hasn't happened in any of the recent storms!) I feel as if my air supply is cut off. Something vital to existence is missing.

I'm a person who fixes stuff. But sometimes I have to order a replacement part and wait until it gets here :-(

Society is really falling apart on replacement parts, and so far, nobody has figured out that they damn well need to start warehousing spare parts locally if transportation is no longer reliable. Right now the heating system is damaged, and it'll take weeks to fix. If the air conditions breaks, same thing, weeks to months before it's fixed. With climate change, this is going to kill a lot of people -- all perfectly preventable deaths. >_

I keep hearing ads on the radio for Grainger, a general-purpose industrial supply company. They'll sell you everything from desk chairs to toilet paper dispensers.

Grainger is a bit on the pricey side for some items. I wanted to buy a thing to hang clothes hangers on (for temporary coat storage), and it was twice as much as the one in Ikea.
