>> Language delays/difficulties (or any complex special-needs difficulty, really) with refugee kids are a difficult problem, at least here. <<
Yeah, because here society doesn't value them, so nobody with resources wants to invest in them. And all refugees have damage of some degree.
>> Need a specialist but first need a referral, but first need to be in school but first need to be registered but can't be for three months, so we go with the closest thing we've got to a specialist, all of whom fell wildly unqualified and no backup childcare and [frustrated screeching noise.] <<
That adds up to a whole lot of nothing done, and problems not solved, because people just damn well don't want to do it and don't have to.
Fortunately, Hasra doesn't need experts. She just needs to be glued to her father long enough to start feeling secure about moving forward again. A safe environment will help too; we'll get to that shortly.
>> [Composed] ...let's just say that was not a terribly enjoyable situation, for any of us,* although it admittedly could have been much worse. <<
My sympathies.
>>I look forward to seeing how Terramagne handles this sensibly.<<
That's in the later poems, yes.
>> And I hope it includes help with childcare. <<
Ideally, yes. In this case, that's complicated by the fact that Hasra has one attachment left and clings to her father will her might. Since Ahzan also has only one attachment left, he is every bit as clingy.
>>This actually reminds me of a story idea I had...bwahahaha! <<
