Birdfeeding
Oct. 18th, 2021 05:08 pmToday is sunny and warm.
I fed the birds. I've seen house finches.
I planted 12 daffodils under the oak tree in the forest yard.
As I was digging, I disturbed a small gray tree frog who hopped out of the leaf litter. He was the exact color of the gray tree bark. :D I don't think it's an accident that he was under the oak tree. As oaks support over 500 species of insects, the frog would have a smorgasbord right at his tongue-tip. Indeed, I often see insects sheltering around the base of a tree. Want tree frogs? Planting oaks will attract food they eat and offer shelter. Have oaks already? Place an amphibian shelter such as a hollow log or toad abode nearby.
More fall bulbs have arrived! :D
EDIT 10/18/21 -- I planted 8 daffodils around a mulberry tree edging the savanna and 4 in the daffodil garden.
EDIT 10/18/21 -- I finished planting the big bag of daffodils. The last ones went into the prairie garden. There were a bunch of extras, though, so the final count is probably 75-77.
