Watch "Dueling Banjos"
Sep. 25th, 2021 05:46 pmThis is one of my favorite songs, because it can be tweaked so easily. I've heard it with banjos, tubas, bagpipes, and hammered dulcimers. This one uses banjo and guitar, but riffs the tune more than usual.
And yes, it has been used for cape challenges in Terramagne. Because why the hell not.

Re: Fixed!

I think the duelings sitars proves that music is largely universal and can be tweaked to match any style..
That, and I would love to see that dueling capes you mentioned...
Re: Fixed!
Date: 2021-09-26 02:19 am (UTC)Yes. Not all songs will transpose to all instruments, based on how they work, but "Dueling Banjos" can be transposed to almost any stringed instrument, and even tubas. Percussion would be harder, but if it can be done on hammered dulcimers, it could probably be done on xylophones. It is particularly interesting as a challenge between instruments from different cultures.

By all means, prompt for it. The Maori tradition of haka mana has been around long enough that sometimes other people use non-combat methods of determining dominance.

Come to think of it, that could include Ashley... although her control is getting better, it's not perfect.

Date: 2021-09-26 02:44 am (UTC)I shall point out that Speed Metal is a thing... and anyone who can play Dragonforce's "Through the Fire and Flames" on Guitar Hero on Insane Mode is quite probably a speedster...

Date: 2021-09-26 02:58 am (UTC)This is true... I would bet Kraken have that market cornered too.
That said, that example really exists, and as far as I know, only one person has ever gotten a 100% flawless score on it.
Re: Fixed!
Date: 2021-09-26 02:52 am (UTC)Not sure what it would look like, but I bet it'd be fun.
Oh lord. Now I'm picturing the results of someone introducing the Klingons to hakas.

It could be made to work. If YeeHawBibi could do Country & Western bellydance, why not banjo haka?

Klingons would love the aggression of it, and have no idea why they kept losing, because they'd miss the social aspects. ROTFL
