>> I prefer wearing cotton and cotton quilts to synthetics. <<
I can't wear many synthetics. They tend to irritate my skin. I can wear polyester and acrylic, if they are processed to be soft, but often they are not. I quite like rayon, which is semi-synthetic. I love the soft texture of tencel, but it turns me into a walking dustcatcher. >_< For the same reason I can't wear most fleece or microfiber. Almost all athletic and much summer wear is now made of things I can't use.
Cotton is my go-to fabric, preferably 100%, but a small amount of synthetic for shapekeeping is acceptable. Silk is another favorite when I can find and afford it. I like linen if it's soft rather than stiff. Bamboo and hemp are often awesome, but hard to find and expensive. I still bought several pairs of the tie-dyed bamboo socks because they're just that good. I am allergic to wool.
>> But I also don't have a hundred articles of clothing, unless I count socks individually. <<
I have a lot of clothes, for different venues and moods and seasons. But I wear them until they literally fall apart. Then they go in the rag bag to be used for torch heads or other crafts. I am increasingly reluctant to turn loose of clothes, because it is harder and harder to replace them. If necessary, I could recut things that no longer fit or have damage, and make something else, as long as the cloth is still good. I am increasingly afraid that I will wind up having to make my own clothes just because other people can't be arsed to make things safe for me to wear. >_
