True dat. It's kinda like martial art forms. Q'ero shamen use what I would term esoteric aikido. It pretty much *can't* be used for offence, only for defence and healing. Asatru are much more like karate or more accurately kendo; it's very weapons-based. Turtle Island-native stuff tends to go both ways, a lot of healing and introspection, but also hunting... sometimes of men rather than food...
Transmutation always incurs a little loss natively, even if all you're doing is gathering several strands of energy and making one big strand of the same kind. Ye cannae violate the laws of physics, even with woo-woo(*)... entropy Is. Though the practicioner is often adding their own to the bundle, which makes up for the losses and then some...
