"Cooking Is Everything"
It's not about any one thing,
it's about everything.
Michael Twitty's cooking
came out of two diasporas --
the Jewish and the African --
a deep history of food.
It's culinary anthropology
at its edible best, exploring
traditional foodways over
the kitchen counter.
It's matzo and peanuts and
rainbow-colored everything.
If he has taught people
one thing about being
black, Jewish, queer,
and a cook, it is this:
Cooking is everything
that you are, and then some.

The Jewish Diaspora spread over much of Europe and Africa, carrying Jewish cuisine.
The African Diaspora mostly went to the Americas, carrying African cuisine.
Queer food is known for various features, but most of all rainbows.
