House Finches

I saw three house finches, two rabbits, and a mourning dove in the forest garden.  Sadly a squirrel showed up and chased them away.  House finches are a sometimes bird around here -- they'll be plentiful one year and gone the next. I haven't seen any all winter.  These seem to be traveling in a small flock, and since all three that I saw were males (with a rosy face, females are drab brown) there are probably females somewhere nearby.  Perhaps they'll decide to stick around.
