Birdfeeding

Today is sunny and mild.

I fed the birds.  I've seen sparrows, a grackle, and a squirrel today.  Yesterday there were crows in the yard.

I cut weeds around the birdgift apple tree.

I wish I could view crows doing something marvelously intelligent, as they are said to do, because we have many in the neighborhood. The most interesting thing they have done in my sight is chase away hawks. Thank goodness for YouTube!

If you have a lot of them, in town, you may be able to attract them by putting out a feeder with corn or other foods that they like.

Here, I offer a variety of things. The hopper feeder and fly-through feeder have a mix that includes sunflower seeds, peanuts, and sometimes dried fruit. But the crows have never shown any interest. I think they have enough other things to eat that they don't really want to come that close to human areas. It's okay if they just want to use my yard as a perch.
