Yep.

I have observed in conventional canons, and further in Polychrome Heroics, that people with happy backgrounds rarely become supervillains and that supervillains usually have a crappy background with few options. Punching people in the face neither makes them want to join your side nor furnishes them with the tools to improve their life. Making friends, on the other hand, has a pretty high rate of coaxing people away from the black. Among the reasons why people age out of crime are forming human connections like marriage and parenting. Form more connections, encourage that shift.
