Challenge 10

In your own space, talk About A Creator/Someone Who Inspired You. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

As always you can interpret the challenge any way you like, but for me, I have decided to use this as an opportunity to give love to someone on my friendslist who has brightened my fannish life with their presence. I think it is human nature to extol the virtues of someone we admire from afar and to overlook the people who brighten our daily lives. So it is my hope that we can all interpret 'inspire' broadly and to include people we respect in many different ways, whether stranger or friend
.

Here I'm going to talk about less famous people who are awesome.

[personal profile] ellenmillion launched Torn World. She used her prior experiences with shared worlds to create a venue and parameters that would avoid most of the problems seen in earlier examples. This works quite well. She built a truly brilliant website to host it. Torn World is also a highly unusual setting for various reasons. One is that temporal technology broke up the territory into shards that have slowly been reconnecting. Another is that the Northerners live in territory similar to Alaska -- where the creator lives -- so for most of us it's very different. I'm a master researcher and I never have stopped making mistakes that she had to correct, just because I don't live in that kind of environment. Anyhow, I joined Torn World for the sake of practicing teamwork, and it served very well for that purpose. I wouldn't have done as well with fanwriters in my settings if not for that experience.

[personal profile] dialecticdreamer is one of two people writing fanfic of my settings at novel length, with long storylines posted in sections. Mostly she does Polychrome Heroics, some Frankenstein's Family. She also writes a number of original series, like the steampunk Voice of the Engines. This is one of the extremely few people who writes faster than I do. A majority of what she writes is gentle fiction: no sex, violence, or foul language. It's a great place to go if you want things that will be fun and relaxing to read, with insightful character interactions.

[personal profile] siliconshaman is another person who writes fanfic of my settings at novel length, again favoring Polychrome Heroics. He also does some original writing. His material tends to have a darker, edgier twist as with his Berettaflies storyline about Lady Blight (Ashley Maddison). It's a good thing to read if you want to be reminded that life could suck a lot more than yours does.
