That's more a thing in Terramagne than here. Part of it's the general social improvement, but part is because they just know the stakes are higher.

It's taking time to develop, but Steel is getting good examples of humans now, so he's starting to ease up a little. Shale was easier because, despite the panic of a fresh injury, he didn't have centuries mental scar tissue to get around. Plus Dr. G is good with kids, even frantic ones.
>> Flashbacks!!! (As dark and disturbing as the memories were, I do like the trope where people can psychically share memories.) <<
Yeah, most telepaths can do that. It's why they shouldn't take hallucinogens, because stuff can spill out to affect others around them. A similar issue occurs in cases like this, where someone has intrusive memories. Most of the time, Steel is pretty good about shielding, even if he's rough with it. But hours of exposure to high-caliber triggers wore down his reflexes until too much got through. :/
Steel is going to be really upset about that for a while. One of the things I want to write is the aftermath, when Dr. G goes back to check on them. It'll be awkward, but good for them.
