I remember someone I used to know when he was a new Witch. He was in the "merchant marine" - he was a working sailor. And he was bothered that the ship might change direction after he had cast a Circle in his quarters, making the directions all wrong. It took me a while to convince him that his intent was more important than which way the ship was going, and I advised him to invoke Deities who understood the ocean and the constraints of a seafaring life, such as Poseidon, Neptune, Sedna, Yemaya, Ran, Lir, and Stella Maris.
