I just emailed the multi-service "food pantry/soup kitchen" in the next town over, to ask them whether their selection of foods includes things that are suitable for halal and kosher clients. (This place is cool - they provide used clothing suitable for job interviews, instruction in skills such as keyboard use, Meals on Wheels for shut-ins, and a wide range of generally useful services. I do hope they're halal-friendly!)
And the next time I'm at the hospital (any time one of my doctors wants lab tests done), I'll take a look at the "chapel/meditation room" to determine which faiths it accomodates, and I'll check for an arrow on the ceiling! (How do Muslims in space pray? Facing Earth?)
