Some such camps are very good. Others are exploitative. Some of the western and mountain states don't regulate "therapeutic" camps at all, despite a number of appalling deaths. T-America averages better than here, but there's always going to be someone looking to make a buck from the easy meat. >_<
Although I would say they made a catastrophic misjudgment in Miriam's case.
