Like most people, it's complicated. There is a certain amount of climate change, a certain amount of mismanagement, and a whole lotta misunderstanding of the issues on both ends of the political spectrum. Prof. Mass is a tenured professor with two agendas: Figure out how to get the best forecasts he can, and get the truth - whatever it is - out there so people can make a better world with as much good information as they have.
TL;DR: Much of what we're seeing the last couple years is a product of natural cycles and bad forestry... but not all of it, and the trend on permanent change is up, but not as much up as "ambitious politicians" would have you think... bottom line, the recommended course is BOTH get in front of the Once-lers with the carbon tax AND get some decent forestry going. It will take a both-and approach to get a handle on things.
